Software Engineer

Position:

Who we are: SubSea Craft is a fast growing, privately-funded, UK-based SME delivering Advanced Maritime Technology. We leverage our team’s defence experience with cross-industry partnerships in the field of advanced naval engineering. Our flagship product, VICTA, is a Diver Delivery Unit – a surface submersible craft designed to operate at speed over range and capable of rapid transition beneath the surface to operate submerged, enabling the discreet delivery and recovery of divers. It is a unique, innovative British product focused primarily on the defence market but with utility beyond.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Software development in line with the system requirements, including design, implementation, testing and validation
  • Testing and validation of software during sea trials
  • Production of comprehensive software documentation, to the best possible standards
  • Working flexibly with the software and engineering teams to ensure software and documentation are delivered on time
  • Working to the highest safety standards for software development, test and validation
  • Working collaboratively with established partner organisations to deliver robust integration of test plans within defined timelines

Essential skills and experience: 

  • Degree level qualification in Mechatronics, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or similar
  • Software development experience (academic, industry or personal)
  • Fast learner and a team player

Desirable skills and experience (any would be an advantage): 

  • Software development in modern C++
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines
  • General understanding of closed loop control
  • Experience with ROS or ROS2
  • Experience with mobile robotics projects
  • An understanding of basic electronics
  • A proactive individual with strong commitment and self-motivation
  • Willingness to embrace innovation and creativity
