 Who we are: SubSea Craft is a fast growing, privately-funded, UK-based SME delivering Advanced Maritime Technology. We leverage our team’s defence experience with cross-industry partnerships in the field of advanced naval engineering. Our flagship product, VICTA, is a Diver Delivery Unit – a surface submersible craft designed to operate at speed over range and capable of rapid transition beneath the surface to operate submerged, enabling the discreet delivery and recovery of divers. It is a unique, innovative British product focused primarily on the defence market but with utility beyond.

Job Summary: We are seeking an Operations Lead to build and lead a team in support of SSC Central Operations. As Operations Lead, you will provide the foundations and safe operating environment for the company, from which other departments can then flourish. You will have a broad and strategically important role; to provide coordination of business activity across the company to deliver SSC strategic intent, whilst also assuring alignment with associated governance and legislation. You will provide confidence and assurance to our customers in our ways of working through maintenance of our ISO9001 accredited Quality Management Systems and help monitor and manage Business Risk with our Risk Management System.

Close collaborative engagement with all parts of our growing company will be essential to enable effective delivery, and ensure our ways of working are efficient, streamlined and matched to our business objectives. You will be responsible for optimising processes, streamlining workflows, and ensuring SSC have an effective operating environment.

The Role

  • You will report to the Operations Director.
  • Team Management: Build, lead and empower a high-performing central operations team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence
  • Organisational Planning: Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with the company’s strategic goals and objectives; contributing to SSC’s growth
  • Strategic Risk Management: Assist the Executive Management Board in managing strategic risk by leading the Business Roadmap and helping identify and manage resource limitations, with assessment of the external and internal context in which SSC operates.
  • Process Optimisation: Lead and manage SSC’s Quality Management System to ensure the implementation of appropriate and refined processes, whilst identifying opportunities to enhance operational efficiencies and implement best practices to maximise productivity and quality.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Design, R&D, Engineering, Commercial, Client Support, Admin, HR and Finance, to align operational efforts with business objectives and maintain the Business Roadmap.
  • Resource Allocation: Manage resources effectively, including personnel, budget, and equipment, to support operational needs and project requirements.
  • Facilities Management: Act as the company Point of Contact and representative with the company’s building management agency, to ensure maintenance and provision of facilities which meet the company’s requirements, including security (FSC) and environmental obligations.
  • Asset Management: Manage the maintenance and operation of company assets including RIBs, road vehicles and workshop and manufacturing line equipment.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement, fostering innovation and implementing initiatives to optimise operations and enhance the company’s competitive edge.
  • Health and Safety: Work alongside the Health and Safety Superintendent to ensure a safe working environment for our people.
  • Carry out other duties as may be reasonably be required by SubSea Craft management.
