Our flagship product, VICTA, is a Diver Delivery Unit – a surface submersible craft designed to operate at speed over range and capable of rapid transition beneath the surface to operate submerged, enabling the discreet delivery and recovery of divers. It is a unique, innovative British product focused primarily on the defence market but with utility beyond.

Role and Responsibilities: As the Finance Manager at SubSea Craft you will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing key financial aspects of our operations within the defence market. This position requires a proactive, strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of financial principles in the context of manufacturing businesses, including international aspects.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Team Leadership and Development:
    • Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement in a rapidly developing business setting.
    • Support the development and implementation of financial strategies, controls, policies, and procedures.
  1. Liaison with External Parties:
    • Work closely with professional advisors on accounting and taxation matters to maintain compliance and capitalise on relevant opportunities.
    • Collaborate with external auditors to ensure accurate and timely completion of audits.
  1. Financial Reporting:
    • Oversee the timely delivery of monthly and ad-hoc financial reports.
    • Present financial performance to management, providing insights and recommendations.
  1. Cost Management:
    • Monitor and control costs across the business.
    • Support effective collaboration with operational teams to analyse costs, promote cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
  1. Compliance and Risk Management:
    • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, accounting principles, and industry standards.
    • Mitigate financial risks associated with international transactions by keeping abreast of global regulations.
  1. Cash Flow Management:
    • Monitor cash flow to inform funding requirements.
    • Collaborate with treasury functions to manage banking relationships.
  1. Strategic Financial Planning:
    • Contribute to the development and execution of the company’s strategic financial plans.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Professional finance qualification essential (e.g., ACA, ACCA).
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing and/or defence industry setting with international exposure highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with government contracts, defence procurement processes, and international trade regulations would be an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and manufacturing operations in a global context.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in financial software and ERP systems.

 

Note: Due to the nature of work undertaken at SubSea Craft, the selected candidate must be capable of meeting the security requirements of the position, which would include as a minimum Existing right to live and work in the UK, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), with Security Check likely for specific projects.*
