Craft Technician – Electrical

Who we are: Subsea Craft is a fast growing, privately funded, UK-based SME delivering Advanced Maritime Technology. We leverage our team’s defence experience with cross-industry partnerships in the field of advanced naval engineering. Our flagship product, VICTA, is a Diver Delivery Unit – a surface submersible craft designed to operate at speed over range and capable of rapid transition beneath the surface to operate submerged, enabling the discreet delivery and recovery of divers. It is a unique, innovative British product focused primarily on the defence market but with utility beyond.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Build, maintenance & repair of electrical systems on specialist craft
  • Travel to and support of offsite craft testing
  • Defect rectification and fault finding

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential –

  • Recognised electrical qualification
  • Computer literate with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office

Desirable –

  • Experience with marine, automotive or rail electrical systems.
  • DC low voltage systems.
  • CAN control systems.
  • PLC diagnostics.
  • HV battery systems.
  • Able to fault find and fix electrical systems as above.
  • Able to use Auto-CAD, rhino or other 3D software.

Working Conditions:

The role will primarily be based in the SubSea Craft office in Portsmouth, UK, with regular

travel to the Portland facility in Dorset during trials. The position may involve work in a

manufacturing environment and at sea during trials, which may present physical challenges and

require adherence to safety protocols. Note that due to the nature of work undertaken at

SubSea Craft, the selected candidate must be capable of meeting the security requirements of

the position, which would include as a minimum the Baseline Personnel Security Standard

(BPSS), with Security Check likely for specific projects.
