Who we are: SubSea Craft (SSC) is a fast growing, privately funded, UK-based SME delivering Advanced Maritime Technology. We leverage our team’s defence experience with cross-industry partnerships in the field of advanced naval engineering. Our flagship product, VICTA, is a Diver Delivery Unit – a surface submersible craft designed to operate at speed over range and capable of rapid transition beneath the surface to operate submerged, enabling the discreet delivery and recovery of divers. It is a unique, innovative British product focused primarily on the defence market but with utility beyond.

Job Summary: We are seeking a Head of Service Delivery to build and lead a team in the provision of after-sales support of SSC products. As Head of Service Delivery, you will be responsible for ensuring the coherent provision of maintenance, repair, technical support, and upgrades of the craft throughout its lifecycle across SSC’s global marketspace. You will identify and develop commercial opportunities for the delivery of support functions and manage budgetary compliance, in accordance with the SSC Business Plan. You will work closely with engineering and design teams to help identify, address, and manage issues related to the craft’s performance and will be responsible for leading teams in developing and implementing solutions to ensure that the craft remains operational and effective for our customer.

Close collaborative engagement with end-users and their support teams will be essential to enable effective delivery and ensure our products are always mission ready. This will involve coordinating with internal teams, external suppliers, and the end-users to deliver a comprehensive support solution appropriately tailored to the needs of our customers. This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Advanced Maritime Technology industry and make a significant impact in supporting the operational needs of elite user groups. If you are a technologically savvy, driven and dynamic leader with a passion for military and defence operations, we encourage you to apply.

The Role

  • You will report to the Client Support Director and be an integral part of the senior management within SSC.
  • Strategic customer engagement for support strategy development and capability management.
  • Head a department responsible for all aspects of after-sales support including establishing in-country maintenance and repair teams, infrastructure, and frameworks for the provision of scheduled and emergency maintenance arrangements, as well as the supporting logistical chains. Ensuring that all elements are delivered in accordance with contractual requirements, legislation, and best practice.
  • Coordinate and control the logistical and supply support to customers and overseas teams, including holding of stores of parts and tools.
  • Lead a globally dispersed team of engineers, technicians, and support staff.
  • Ensure that all maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders (such as engineering, logistics, and operations).
  • Develop and manage external stakeholders (such as contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies) on all matters relating to Service Delivery.
  • Develop and implement a planned maintenance schedule for VICTA, ensuring that it is both effective and efficient and compliments the customer’s deployment methodology.
  • Work with the customer and other SSC functions to deliver:
    • Fleet management
    • Engineering support and safety case management
    • Packaging handling, storage and transportation
    • Materials and spares
    • Upgrades and updates
    • Maintenance scheduling, documentation and information
    • Support and test equipment
    • Technical data
    • Design interface
  • Identify and articulate customer training requirements for both maintainers and craft operators, and liaising with SSC Head of Training to deliver solutions.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of SSC’s through-life support function, identifying areas for improvement and taking action to address any issues.
