Position: Control Software Engineer

  • Salary: £60,000

Who we are:

SubSea Craft is a privately-funded SME delivering Advanced Maritime Technology. Our core product is VICTA, a Diver Delivery Unit - a surface submersible craft designed to operate at speed over range and capable of rapid transition beneath the surface to operate submerged, enabling the discreet delivery and recovery of divers. It is a unique, innovative British product focused primarily on the defence market but with utility beyond.

We are looking for an energetic software engineer with a passion for control systems and robotics to help drive forward the development of world leading advanced maritime technology. The successful candidate will be driven by innovation and strive to deliver excellence in everything they do.   

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Control software development in line with the system requirements, including design, implementation, testing and validation
  • Testing and validation of software during trials
  • Creation and management of comprehensive documentation to fully capture and communicate all activities, non-compliances, results and recommendations, to feed into the design cycle and quality management system
  • Working flexibly with the software and engineering teams to ensure software and documentation are delivered on time
  • Working to the highest safety standards for the test and validation stages
  • Working collaboratively with established partner organisations to deliver robust integration of test plans within defined timelines

Essential skills and experience:

  • Degree level qualification in Mechatronics, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or similar
  • Good development experience in modern C++
  • General understanding of closed loop control

Additional skills and experience:

  • Experience with Python
  • Experience with ROS or ROS2 would be advantageous
  • Experience with robotics projects (personal or professional) would be advantageous
  • A good understanding of basic electronics would be a plus
  • Good knowledge of data analysis is desirable
  • Maritime experience is a plus, but whatever your track record, high levels of technical expertise, personal drive and strong communication skills are particularly important.
