Commercial Manager


SubSea Craft has a vacancy for a Commercial Manager at their Havant site. The role reports direct for the Chief Commercial Officer with responsibility for overseeing contract generation, pricing, negotiation and programme delivery variances for target clients to ensure seamless progression along the sales, supply and partnering pipelines. It functions alongside the Commercial and Key Account Managers at the heart of the SubSea Craft Commercial team. 


The Role:

  • Lead on all aspects of contract management: generation, negotiation and performance
  • Lead the sales, supply and partnering negotiations with agents, suppliers and clients, developing options to meet business goals
  • Develop the suite of processes to enable contractual progression along the sales, supply and partnering pipelines
  • Initiate and develop the contracts associated with sales and production to include those for training and through-life support
  • Working with the Key Accounts Manager, generate proposals to target clients
  • Advise on commercial legal issues and internal governance
  • Identify and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities
  • Business lead for: Sales and pricing framework, Programme delivery variances in target clients


The candidate:

  • Knowledge of: Legal issues, profitability requirements, contract structure, terms and conditions, drafting, sub-contract considerations, funding and payment plans
  • Defence contracting
  • Contract variety
  • Contract management (incl tools and techniques used in generating winning bids)
  • Cultural and relational considerations
  • Experience of:
  • Risk and opportunity analysis and mitigation
  • Contract drafting
  • Defence/Maritime sector – highly desirable
  • Maturity and gravitas to work with senior levels of clients and internal stakeholders
  • Contract drafting experience
